I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, a place that inspired my passion for art. I completed my studies in the UK, and received a BA Hons. Degree in Illustration. After graduation, I worked in London for five years in the media industry, exhibiting and selling my paintings when time permitted.
My artworks are about colour, pattern and texture. I use mixed media such as acrylic, gouache, watercolour, chalk and oil pastels, as well as finding materials to fix onto paintings to give them a unique appeal and depth. A true hoarder, I keep stuff everyone else throws away to enrich my paintings.
My heart lies in illustration, so I was overjoyed when I moved to Dubai, and met Julia Johnson who asked me to illustrate her latest children’s book. It is called The Peacock and The Mermaid. Jebel Ali Hotel, who commissioned the book, then asked me to translate the story onto the walls of their children’s centre, thus I was fortunate to embark on a new passion – mural paintings. I have been lucky to paint some more kid’s clubs in hotels & designed murals for spa’s. I also enjoy painting murals for private homes.
My influences mainly come from Africa and Australia, as well as artists such as Christopher Corr, Brian Wildsmith and Sue Williams. I love tribal art, aboriginal painting and draw a lot of my inspiration from exploring different cultures.
